Training, Sneezing, etc...
By ernie

Well I came down with a little cold/sinus deal...i was Blessed because it was over rather fast. I did some training yesterday...not really worth talking about...the first half was decent, but then on my second movement i was very dissapointed, so i decided to make it up today. I started off with the cleans while on the knees which is one of the odd lifts that i plan on performing on the record day...there is also a press, but i just did the clean portion...i did all singles working up to some attempts with 230lbs which didnt fair so well,im still learning the technique and i actually think my technique is perrtty good, but it can always be better i guess...I then moved on to some safety squat bar good mornings. As anyone knows who has dealt with this bar, this bar makes movements tough! I did 4 sets of 2 and then 2 sets of 1 with this movement. I finished off with some Captains of Crush work. I will be certified with the number 3 God WILLING! Thanks for reading!

Training for today

Todays training was quick but effective...I did a couple of lifts that I am contemplating doing for my wr meet. It is the clean and press, and the snatch, but instead it is seated. I only did the clean part for the clean and press...and then the snatch. I made it a little tougher today however. I used a axle/thick bar. For the clean I worked up in doubles...then did a few singles, then dropped down and did a couple sets of doubles. After those I did 6 singles in the snatch. Like I said it was a fast session, but it was an effective session. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Sunday training

Today was a pretty good training day...I incorperated by chains into my lifts today. I started off with overhead squats with grip I do my normal overhead pressing with(pinkys on ring) I went up to a max...going up i did all singles. The chains all leave the ground when the weight is extended at the top making it that much tougher. I worked up to 180lbs with the chains...making it near 300lbs...after that i dropped down to 160lbs with the chains and did a single as well. I use a narrow stance and go very deep with these. I then moved on to power jerks keeping the chains on. I worked up to a moderate 300lbs with the chains on. For not doing many power jerks lately...these actually felt good and snappy, and I was happy...especially doing these right after the overhead squats. Finally I moved on to some gripper work, and then called it a day. Hope everyone is having a Blessed Sunday!

Tonight I did some strict overhead presses with some chains added. The chains weighed around 90lbs. I warmed up, then did about 8 singles...slowly increasing the weights. I then did some french presses from the rack. I left the chains on. I did a heavy 3,2,1 rep scheme. I finished with a couple sets of tri pressdowns to get the blood flowing in the elbows and tris. Thanks for checking the blog! God Bless.

Todays training consisted of practicing a couple of the lifts i am doing for my next contest. Most are probably not familiar with a lot of the lifts that are contested in "odd lift" contests. But they can be fun to do as well as challenging. I started off with practicing the snatch lift that is just like you see in the olympics, except it was done well being on your knees. It takes the legs out of the whole lift making it a lot tougher then normal. I worked up to some moderate singles. I had more in the tank but didnt want to miss anything. I then moved on to some cleans while resting on the knees as well. This is the hardest part of the clean and press on the knees for me. The cleans went well, as i finally thinking i am hitting my groove. I finished off with some grip work. Working on the COC number 3 gripper. This is a goal for me as well. I hope everyone has a great week! God Bless!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. Today I started off with an odd lift that wont be thought of unless you like to odd type lifting. It is called the kneeling clean and press. It is a tough lift. For me the clean is much harder then the press. I worked up to a moderate 205lbs. I am going to need to practice the clean and find the most effiecient way for me personally...so i moved on to just the clean part of the lift. I then moved on to some one arm barbell snatches. I worked both the right and left arm up to 150lbs. Not a bad training day...Take care!

Today started my new training cycle for a meet in november. The meet is a record breaker meet. I have a couple of lifts that I am contemplating doing, so we shall see. I started today with some 2 arm d.bell clean and strict presses. I then moved on to some behind the neck standing strict presses. I worked up to the 275lb range. Finally I did some french presses from the rack, worked up to an easy 205lbs for a couple singles. The d.bell clean and presses were pretty challenging i must say. I tried a couple different techniques for the clean from a regular power clean to a squat clean. It wasnt a bad training day, just testing the waters with different lifts. Have a great week.

I hope everyone is doing well..I have taken a week off from training before I start my next traing cycle for a meet in november. I have been working on finishing some odds and ends with my book and am honored that Mr Rick Brewer and Mr Jim Voronin have said that they would write a little blurb for the back of the book. That is truely a blessing to have 2 important people in the world of strength write why someone should by a book from me. Vincent Dizzenzo has also said he would, as well as legend John Mccain(not Senator Mccain). It is an honor to be able to write for such a large strength training company like House of Pain! I hope everyone has had a great week, and has a wonderful weekend! God Bless!

I hope everyone is enjoying the week so far. I had a decent training day today...I know I personally take a lot of things for granted. I should be thrilled for every day I can wake up, and be able to get out of bed. Todays training started off with some strict presses behind the neck in the standing fashion. I added my heavy chains to the lift as well. I took a relatively close grip with the pinkys on the ring. Once I warmed up with the bar, I took all singles. I worked up to 175lbs with the added chains, which made it about 565lbs :-)     Once these were completed I moved on to my new odd lift invention with taking a barbell out of the rack from the side and pressing it overhead. I showed you a vid of this lift. I worked up to around 130lbs for each arm for about 5 singles. After these I took my axle bar out and did some regular curls. I did a 5,3,1,1 rep scheme for these. Finally after this I did some singles at a "one right after another" pace with my gripper. Have a great week! God Bless!

Today I started off with some bent over rows. This is going to be a new contested all around lift that I helped propose in the USAWA. The lift is a bit different then a regular bent over row. It actually has to be paused at the stomach, which you can imagine how tough that makes it! Once it is paused, they say down...just like any other lift you have to pause. I did a bunch of singles in the mid 300lb range. Would be awesome to get 405lbs contested.  After these I worked on some one arm jerks from the rack in the 160lb range. I then did some gm's with the safety squat bar from the pins...then finally some gripper work. Hope everyone has had a great weekend! God Bless!

Tonights training started off with some overhead squats...I warmed up with the bar for a couple sets of 3...then did singles all the way up...I made sure to pause all sets to make em a little bit more difficult. I then moved on to some split jerks. The only difference was I worked with the heavy chains. I worked up to 300lbs with the chains added on that made it around 400lbs. I finished off with some good mornings starting from the pins. I used the safety squat bar, and did a 5,3,1 rep scheme. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
